~Plates, yes, Plates!

So, I was at an Estate sale this morning (saw some of you there!) and this sweet lady was looking at a stack of plates. She looked at me and said,"Do you hang plates on the wall?" And how to you do it?" Well, of course, I had a few ideas for her and hanging plates on the wall is one if my favorite decorating accessories! I thought I would show you a few ways that I use plates around the house....besides eating on them!
I just added the purple plates above these pictures and love them! Remeber always hang groupings in an odd number...somehow they just look better that way!

Plates are wonderful fillers for bookshelves and a great way to add a punch of color to any space!

I really like using them mixed in with other vintage or new items...
How do you decorate with them???

A beautiful day & recent FINDS!!!

It was such a gorgeous day yesterday and we had to get out to the barn anyway....SO, Rebekah talked Poppi into giving her a riding lesson and we had to give Buster Billy a cool down walk afterwards.... I'm not sure who is walking who???
They love spending time together...It is so precious to see your daughter get to make the same memories that I have with her grandpa that I made with my dad...it is like time is repeating itself....my dad always took us for pony rides on Sunday afternoon and my sweet mom finally got some peace and quiet....

Now, I just snapped a few quick pictures of items for sale in April...still love the mannequins!!

This is a bad picture of a really cool vintage JP Coats rack...probably used to sale rick rack or ribbon....black, metal..It would make a great organizer hanging on the wall!

I have lots of hymnal rack holders...here is a new kind that I have not had before...They even have the cup holders on the ends...
Well, we are on the "hunt" to fill the barn for the spring sale. If you are looking for anything, drop me a line and I'll be happy to keep a sharp eye out for you! You'll notice that I'll be listing a few larger items for sale now and then on the right side of the page also, so take a peek at those
too!

A few fun TIPS...

Well, I'm busy putting all my Christmas decorations away...can't believe how much stuff I have aquired over the last few years, and I had to take a break and blog a little! My sweet dad gave me this funny little book in my stocking called, Don't you dare throw it out! that is full of interesting ideas on re-using items! I guess it is a recycler's dream book...some of the idea's are bad, but I wanted to share some that I thought were helpful or ones that I might actually use!
So here they are....

1. Bottle caps - White plastic soda bottle tops can be used as teeny, tiny paint cups when you have a small job to tackle.

2. Prescription bottles - Use an empty bottle to make a travel sewing kit. Inside place a needle or two, pieces of thread of various colors, and a thimble.

3. Prescription bottles - Stuff a piece of sponge in an empty prescription bottle so that it sticks out of the top. Then, when you need to dampen envelopes, just moisten the sponge - no more dry, yucky tongue!

4. Broom Handle - Wrap an old t-shirt around the end of an old broom handle, and use it to get those cobwebs out of the corners of your rooms.

5.Old Business cards - Glue 2 business cards together so that the blank sides face out. Write your name and address on both sides, then laminate the cards with clear contact paper. Punch a hole in the card, attach it to your suitcase, and you have a luggage tag!

6. Christmas cards - Cut the front of the cards into smaller sizes and use them as gift tags!

Our grandma's have been re-cycling christmas cards for years... who know it was cool?I have actually started cutting up (from past year's) cards and will use them for gift tags next year!!! Some of those Christmas cards are beautiful and I love a way to use them again!

Well, do you have any good tips to share??? I want to know!

Happy New Year!

Jodi
